2d Animator

Job Title : 2D Animator

Location : Anerley, London

Contract Type: 6 Month FTC

 

Description

We are seeking a talented 2D animator to join our team at Fumblerooski and work on animations for our hit UK show, Fin vs History, and future podcasts and long form projects. You’ll be coming up with and animating a style that can be created quickly and simply for the podcast, along with more high-end designs for longer turnaround animations.

As a 2D animator, your primary objective will be to develop highly engaging, visually appealing, premium-quality animations for various projects. The ideal candidate is a creative artist passionate about design, storytelling – and most importantly – comedy.

Objectives of this role

 

·       Conceptualising and creating visually appealing 2D animations that align with the project’s artistic vision and objectives.

·       Using animation software and tools to produce high-quality animations that meet the project’s specifications and deadlines.

·       Collaborating with writers, designers, illustrators and other team members to develop storyboards and animation sequences.

·       Ensuring consistency and quality in all animations, adhering to established style guidelines and technical requirements.

·       Revising and refining animations based on feedback from directors, clients and other stakeholders.

 

Your tasks

 

·       Design and animate characters, backgrounds and scenes for various media, including games, advertisements and digital content.

·       Develop storyboards and animatics to visualise and plan animation sequences.

·       Use software such as Moho Pro, Toon Boom Harmony or similar tools to create and edit 2D animations.

·       Collaborate with the sound design team to synchronise audio with animations.

·       Implement feedback and revisions to ensure the final animation meets quality and creative standards.

·       Maintain organised files and documentation for all animation projects.

·       Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas and solutions.

·       Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to enhance animation skills and knowledge continually. 

 

Required skills and qualifications

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in animation, graphic design, fine arts or a related field; equivalent work experience is also considered.

·       Demonstrable experience as a 2D Animator or in a similar role with a solid portfolio showcasing your animation skills.

·       Experience in character design and storyboarding for series or advertising.

·       Understanding of animation principles, visual concepts, and storytelling techniques.

·       Proficiency in 2D animation software such as Moho Pro, Toon Boom Harmony and/or After Effects.

·       Excellent understanding of animation principles, including timing, weight and motion.

·       Strong drawing and illustration skills with a keen eye for detail, colour and composition.

·       Ability to convey emotions, expressions and actions effectively through animation.

·       An innovative, creative and artistic vision with the ability to think out of the box.

·       Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

·       Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 

Preferred skills and qualifications

 

·       Master’s degree in Animation or a related field.

·       Knowledge of motion graphics and visual effects.

·       Ability to adapt to different animation styles and project requirements.

·       Experience with 3D animation as an additional skill.

·       Familiarity with scripting and programming for animation.

·       Knowledge of the latest animation trends and techniques.

 

 

This is a full-time, 6 month fixed term contract that could lead into permanent employment.

Working predominantly at our studio in Anerley, South London.

Start date – immediate.

 

Salary: £32K - £42K / year
